How to Get Shiny, Healthy Hair When the Temps Plummet

I noticed a quintuple split end while doing dishes one morning. In desperation, I searched through my hair samples came up with a solution that saved my hair.

With super cold temperatures for weeks, my hair has become dry and brittle. Normally I wash 3x a week, once is with this DEEP CLEAN but fortifying shampoo + this DEEP CONDITIONER I’ve used for years. So the only thing that changed is the weather, which was in the 70s right before Christmas but then plummeted to the teens-30s.

So I found this REPAIRING TREATMENT among my litany of samples, and here’s the process:

Unfortunately this isn’t a sustainable practice because I ran out of the sample. Also I’m not air-drying my hair when it’s freezing outside. So I invested in this REPAIR MASK (celebrity makeup artist Lisa Eldredge raves about it) and have added it to my non-deep cleanse/deep condition days. Additionally, I still use my regular conditioner but typically skip my roots because that’s a recipe for limp hair with zero body. But until the temperature comes up a bit, I’m using my regular conditioner all over.

In other words:

Some folks suggest not washing your hair as much, but there’s a lot of debate on that. For me, washing my hair three times a week is the sweet spot. Just do what works for you.

Here are five more of my favorite hair tips:

  1. Use a nourishing DRY SHAMPOO on days you don’t wash with water to keep your scalp healthy

  2. Keep ends smooth with a drop of HAIR OIL as the final step when styling your hair

  3. If you blow dry your hair, start with a HEAT PROTECTOR to keep damage at bay

  4. If you heat style, especially at high temperatures or have fragile hair, add in additional protection with a protective STYLING SPRAY

  5. Before bedtime, apply an OVERNIGHT MASK, kind of like applying hand lotion before bed, to build your hair’s strength overnight

There you have it! Good luck getting your hair back on track. I actually let my hair air dry again last night because I’m still on the struggle bus, but I can definitely see an major improvement since using these tips.
