Clean Mascara

If you’ve followed me on Instagram for a while, you’ll know I’m conducting #MascaraTrials (all the info is saved in highlights).

This is the only “clean” mascara that’s made it to phase three of the trial - aka me investing in a full tube to test - and I’ve reached for it over the others I’ve tried multiple times.

I did not like it at first, but my trick is to apply a coat, let is dry, then apply another coat. The ingredients are fabulous, and I’ve heard it’s comparable to the $70 Louboutin mascara. It holds curl beautifully, and adds tons of volume with a little length. Yum.

Skin Food

Running outside in the winter chill has left my skin raw. While the calming mask I featured last month is still a big help, I wanted an extra layer of hydration while running and overnight.

I learned about this product years and years ago while reading actual, paper magazines. All the fashion week models who needed to put on (and take off) multiple makeup looks in a day swear by this product to not only calm their skin but keep it healthy throughout the week.

While it’s a multi-use balm, meaning you can use it anywhere on your body, I’ll pat it on my cheeks before a run and right before bed (where my skin is most irritated), and also on my hands where they get super chapped.

The best way I’ve found to apply it is just like La Mer: warm a pea-sized amount in your fingers, then press into skin.

Hair Refresh

I’m over dry shampoo. My hair doesn’t get that oily between my thrice-weekly washings, but it does get flat and gross. I’ve used dry shampoo to “clean” by hair, but what if it’s not dirty, it just looks like crap?

Enter this amazing spray that’s a reset button on your style. Here’s how I use it: this morning, my workout got way sweater than expected so I absentmindedly tossed my hair into a messy bun. No big deal except that’s how the hair closest to my heat goes completely flat and the lengths magically become unable to tame.

I showered while utilizing a shower cap, then liberally sprayed the miracle product all over my hair. I flipped hair over, hit it with low heat/high air from the hair dryer, then styled as usual. This is the result:

Perfect Powder

While I still sing the praises of Charlotte Tilbury powders, as seen in this YouTube video around the 4-minute mark, once they run out…I can’t believe I’m saying this…I’m done buying powders except this one.

As a pro makeup artist I’ve used it on every skin tone and age, and it’s perfect. You can use it to set, buff or finish makeup, as an eye shadow primer, and I’ve even tried it against my favorite powder specifically made for under eyes…this one was undetectable while the other dried throughout the day.

This is a good reminder that you don’t have to accept makeup as it is - make sure it works for you!!

PS - the giant container is only $14!

Until next month…
