Updated Work Desk Beauty Essentials

First of all…whew. April was a very hard month where I took on another work contract (Electra Lane isn’t my full-time job!). All the schedule-juggling, plus onboarding, plus trying to be a team player really took its toll and I’ve been very stressed. That said, and thinking about those I look up to because they seem to “do it all,” I’ve realized no one does it all. Many times, things just won’t get done. And that’s okay. The key is to prioritize what MUST get done, then go from there.

I’m personally working on letting go of the insane expectations I’ve set for myself, knowing I’m doing my best. I hope you’ll do the same. I’ve let a monthly newsletter slip for the first time maybe ever, and I certainly haven’t kept up with my twice-weekly blogging goal.

So - I’ll get to it when I can. Follow along on TikTok, Instgram and LTK in the meantime. Sign up for the newsletter and it will eventually hit your inbox with all sorts of goodies. It doesn’t mean it’s not so very important to me, it just means I’m at capacity right now.

Speaking of work…

Updated Work Desk Beauty Essentials

I’ve shared some of my in-office beauty picks before, but as someone who’s worked from home most of my career and plans on keeping it that way as long as I can, here are some yummies that make my day - even at home.

Hand cream

I feel like hand cream is so underrated. Not only can the scent lift your spirits, but it keeps your cuticles in check. I love sitting back down to work after washing my hands and taking a few seconds to massage in a luxurious lotion.

This one is from my local shop Mint Collective, but I encourage you to give yourself a little hand love.

FACE SPRITZ

This is a total reset for my face and mind. You can even make your own with from spring water (or rosewater) and a few drops of peppermint essential oil. I have to power through lunch and eat while I work, but when I’m finished eating I always give myself a couple of spritzes.

STICKY LIP BALM

When you’re on an endless meeting, whether you’re speaking or not, your lips get super dry. And you don’t want to be the creeper licking your lips on the Zoom. Even though I prefer lip products that soak into the lips versus sitting on top, something that provides a ton of hydration and protection is perfect for your 7th meeting of the day.

MINTS/TREATS

Am I five years old? No. Am I still motivated by candy? You bet. My friend gifted these butter mints in a glass container last Christmas and I tell you what - telling myself I can have a mint if I just push though that next paragraph is sometimes all the motivation I need!

Maybe you can do tokens if you’re not into food rewards. Put a paperclip (or something small) in a jar every time you accomplish something, then treat yourself at certain thresholds. So 25 tokens gets your a 5-mintue nap; 50 tokens is a pedicure; 200 tokens is a new shirt. Do what you need to do!

Appreciate y’all, mean it! JY
