Well...Hello 2023!

I am so embarrassed that not only was my last post June 9th, 2022, but I have three drafts ready to go (one entitled “Makeup for a Summer Concert”) that I just never posted. I know life gets hectic, but I’ve also made a commitment to hosting a blog so, of course, I should post. Better late than never, and here’s a recap of the second half of last year.

June became unexpectedly crazy when my military husband had a couple of days notice before embarking on a special assignment for the next several weeks. In August I wrapped up a major work project then flew out the next day to LA for two Hanson shows…in fact, throughout July, August and September I was an official Hanson groupie and followed them around for their RGB Tour stops in Nashville, Maryland, NYC, Dallas, and the aforementioned Los Angeles. It was one for the books!

We even snuck in a trip to visit friends in Austin. It was beyond, the best people, amazing food, and my husband even danced with me, in public, on his own accord. Swoon.

The fall was spent purging and reorganizing our entire house while adding a special addition - a Peloton Tread. This has been an absolute game-changer in not only my physical, but mental, health! I’m JessYost in the Peloverse (Is that a thing? I’m still a #pelotonnewbie...) so come say hi and let’s take a class together. I also showcase some of my favorite workout achievements on my Insta stories/SWEAT highlight if you’re interested in checking that out. I absolutely love moving my body in the safety in my own home (been almost run over by crazy drivers too many times!), looking forward to setting up and tackling my stack, and the expert coaches.

And then things took a turn. Some major issues crept into my world, but it was amazing to see how - with the help of my faith, my husband, and my sweet friends - I was able to stand under the pressure. Shoutout to Peloton coach Jess Sims who always says things happen FOR you and not TO you if you choose to find the opportunity within the chaos. I was able to break free of so many limiting beliefs others had put on me my whole life. And while it’s unfortunate and very sad to let go of some things, I was given beauty for those ashes. I got it down deep in my soul that I am not a mistake, but in fact a miracle, and I am beyond grateful for that hard-won battle.

The holidays came and went in a blur, but that “Twixtmas” time, or the time between Christmas and New Year’s, was incredibly restorative. My husband, the dogs and I slept in every day and catching up on desperately-needed rest, met up with friends, and ate so much yummy food. It was a very special time.

The New Year has rolled in with a bigger bang than either my husband or I bargained for, but we are both so grateful for each and every opportunity.

I feel uncertain that I’ll be able to handle my day job plus everything I want to accomplish with Electra Lane this year, hit my running goals, maintain social relationships, take care of my senior beagles, visit friends, travel, get as much Hanson as I can, keep my house at least somewhat clean, and find time to paint my nails.

But what I do know is I’m excited for it all, and will do my best to continue to bring you value in an authentic way that helps you understand your true beauty.

We’re all trying our best, so thank you for sticking with me. I’m so glad you’re here, and I’m excited to get to know how I can help you achieve your beauty goals in 2023. Stay tuned and keep sharing Electra Lane with you friends…this year is going to be a good one.

Appreciate y’all, mean it. - JY
