Products of the Month || May 2021

Please enjoy this random smattering of products that have truly made me happy over the past couple of months!

Drunk Elephant Protini Powerpeptide Resurfacing Serum

A years-long devotee to Sunday Reiley Good Genes lactic acid serum, I was excited to try this Drunk Elephant version when it popped during the spring Sephora Sale.

Lactic acid is a chemical exfoliant, and the only one I can use without severe irritation. I love to apply it at night and wake up with glowing, clear, soft skin, plus I have good results with Drunk Elephant products so I wanted to give this a go.

I’m glad I did because, like other lactic acids, it tingles a bit once applied but quickly wears off. After using this about 6 weeks now, I can say that it not only gives all of the aforementioned benefits, but also my skin feels tighter. No joke. And I’m not getting any younger, AND this is the only thing I’ve changed in my skincare routine, so I think it works.

Tarte Opening Act Lash Primer

I’m bringing Mascara Trials to an end, but I was #influenced by my friend Kristin who wouldn’t stop talking about this primer. So I had to get it. And it’s legit.

One of the tenants of Mascara Trials was to find a mascara that doesn’t need primer. And while I'm still pursuing that, this primer makes every mascara just that much better. It grips the mascara causing it to be less flaky, and, when applied and allowed to dry, helps lashes hold curl longer.

I’ve tried the Givenchy Base Mascara Perfecto, the Dior and Lancome primers, Urban Decay, L’Oreal…you name it. This one is, by far, my favorite. And it comes with a little mini mascara that’s just okay but still good for a weekend trip.

Supergoop! Glow Screen

So this originally a tosser, but it’s now a hero product I don’t leave the house without. Here’s the catch: I only apply it to my chest.

Although I used to apply it as a makeup primer, I found it burned the living daylights out of my eyes. Then, one day as I was adding liquid highlighter to my chest, I realized I needed to use this up. Boom.

It gives a gorgeous glow that also protects the vulnerable décolletage from harmful rays, and, of course, it’s nowhere near the eyes.

Supergoop! now makes a Glow Screen for body, but this is good enough for me.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face Mist SPF 55 Sunscreen

Speaking of sunscreen, this version is awesome for on-the-go application throughout the day. The mister/pump is fantastic and gives such a light application. It does not burn my eyes or leave a sticky film or make me cough like many of the aerosols do.

Which, if you’re planning a trip, this should get through security. Yay.
