The Roaring 20s are Here

…or, How to Come Out of Quarantine without Looking Like a Vampire.

Here’s a hilarious Dos Equis commercial showing what I mean (it’s “restricted” because it’s an alcohol commercial):

One of my favorite books and movies (because the plots are fairly different) is The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas. If you’re unfamiliar with the story, the main character, Edmund Dantes, is falsely imprisoned for years. For a while he’s angry, of course, but he then meets someone who helps him not only formulate a plan to escape, but also use his time in jail to learn everything he'll need on the outside.

Last year, when we realized things would be locked down for a very long time, my husband and I set some goals so we would be ready once we could all reemerge from this version of “jail” (not that it felt like it, we had a great time at home together!).

One of my goals was to come up with a plan for Electra Lane that I was able to consistently execute, and one that gave you exactly what you needed via the best delivery platform. I’ve played around with downloads, YouTube, long- and short-form Instagram, and even TikTok. I’ve held workshops and master classes, sold makeup kits, and, of course, bespoke makeup lessons. All in one of the worst years in my lifetime. So, while there’s still a long way to go, I’m proud of myself for pushing though in an industry that relies on the face, and half our faces have been covered this whole time.

What I want to share with you is no matter how you’re emerging from this cocoon, I hope you’ll join me in getting ready to break out as out most confident and beautiful selves. In June, let’s lay the groundwork for our personal independence days in time for not only July 4th as a country, but Electra Lane’s 7th birthday as well!

So, all next month, I’ll showcase different looks for different occasions. Then, in July, we party. I can’t wait.

If you like what you see, share it! Appreciate you, mean it. JY
